Cancun.
One of the most visited destinations in the world, Cancun is the door to the Mayan Riviera. Located in the northeastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula and has a tropical climate all year round. Home to the second busiest international airport in Mexico and cruise ship ports, it's a portal where millions of tourists enter every year to come and experience the turquoise waters and powdery white sandy beaches. It is the biggest city in the state of Quintana Roo and is known for its all inclusive resorts, wild nightlife and Caribbean beach atmosphere. Its 22km long hotel zone is filled with all inclusive resorts, shopping centers, clubs and shows. A development boom in the 1980s turned Cancún into a major resort town for tourists from America, Canada, Europe and elsewhere.
Off the coast of Cancun is the famous island of Isla Mujeres - voted one of the best beaches in the world, Playa Norte calls in the tourists all year long. It’s a big destination for snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming with whale sharks, sea turtle sanctuary, amongst other draws.
Home to almost one million inhabitants, Cancun was the first city to develop in the Mayan Riviera and because of that it possesses the most infrastructure - it has the big city atmosphere, the hustle bustle of urban life and all of the comfort commodities that go along with it.
